Wu Da-Yu: Wu Da-Yu Solo Exhibition
Tina Keng Gallery has continued its efforts in promoting Chinese art masters since its opening, including the celebrated Sanyu’s Solo Exhibition, “Peerless Grace” of Hangzhou National Academy of Fine Arts, Zao Wou-ki’s Solo Exhibition in 2009, all garnering enthusiastic response. This time, Tina Keng Gallery is launching an exhibition of an artistic giant of a generation—Wu Da-Yu. Through the work of this Hangzhou National Academy of Fine Arts Grand Master, one hopes that we can have a more comprehensive understanding of the context of Hangzhou as a hotspot for Chinese art.
Previously known as the representative of the “Chinese Colorists,” Wu Da-Yu has attained a life of artistic accomplishment. His earlier, larger paintings and numerous small and medium works have all been destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. His latter works, some sketches, drawings, artistic notes, and poems have fortunately been well preserved. Unlike the Expressionists or Abstractionists of the Western world, Wu Da-Yu’s work defies categorization, and does not fit into any specific style. Wu’s paintings through his compositions, color, interspersed layouts and style illustrate his understanding of the merging of Chinese and Western cultures.
In virtue of this exhibition, Tina Keng Gallery wishes to salute Wu Da-Yu. „Wu Da-Yu’s Solo Exhibition” will be on display to March 27, 2011.
