Zao Wou-ki’s Chinese Ink Painting: Zao Wou-ki’s Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition

1 - 26 November 2000
Overview

Zao Wou-ki’s first Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition in Taiwan.

Zao’s abstract ink paintings surpass the concept of matter and thus differ from Chinese traditional form. Rice paper and ink are just the tools that he is more easily accessible, though he uses the treasures from the ancestors, he is able to establish a unique style of his own in the world of Chinese painting. The concept of space is the motivation of the artwork free will becomes his only guide. Fluctuating among the splashing dots and lines, in between the heavy and light inks, Zao expresses an extraordinary intrinsic spirit.
