With its inheritance of 20 years' inheritance, Tina Keng Gallery has continued to support visionary Asian artists by building bridges with international institutions, collections and connoisseurs of Asian Art. Through artworks that transcend generations, regions and genders, Tina Keng Gallery is presenting Taiwanese contemporary artists of versatile creativity. In the current installment of Art Taipei 2013, the gallery will feature the works of Zao Wou-Ki, Yang Mao-Lin, Lin Ju, Tu Wei-Cheng, Chen Chun-Hao, Peng Wei, Su Meng-Hung and Hou I-Ting.
Yang Mao-Lin, who represents the influential role in the “Hantoo Group” in Taiwanese art circle, is presenting his latest sculptures.Yang reflects upon various unexpected cultural characteristics of Taiwan in an open-minded and humorous manner, though he criticizes the long-term influences of Japanese and American culture on Taiwanese society. The free spirited artist Lin Ju, who has been known for his fantastic and bizarre style, is exhibiting large scaled painting of 2 by 3 meters. By means of observing the similarities and differences between an individual and the environment, and through the artist’s deep and sensitive vision, a unique spiritual landscape is thus created. Tu Wei-Cheng who invented his signature “Bu-nam Civilization”, is extending from his “TheEmperor’s Treasure Chest of the City”. His new work “The Fantastic 15”represents the members of the “Hantoo Group” and implies the traits of extraordinary determinations and sentimental emotions as well as the mental state of utter innocence.
Meanwhile, Chen Chun-Hao is presenting his latest artworks composed with mosquito nails, previewing his next solo exhibition which will be introduced early next year in January. Peng Wei on the other hand is presenting her latest work from“letters from a distance”. Peng not only preserves traditional Chinese shan-shui in her works, but also introduces the cultural and historical background carried by scrolls and albums. Though she alters them, her work achieves a delicate balance between art’s past and present. Su Meng-hung is introducing one of his latest paintings in which he adapts the element of flowers and birds by painters of the late Qing Dynasty, substituting the traditional images with popular elements of camouflage and leaving silhouettes that have been modified and formatted; Hou I-Tingwho combines overlapping projections and the body to create digital printing or performance art videoswill be introducing her latest work “Please swipe again”, which based on live performances using her own body at the art fair.
TKG+ , the contemporary platform of Tina Keng Gallery is delighted to present the works of WangYahui, Charwei Tsai, Su Yu-Hsien and Chen Ching-Yuan. As works of Wan Yahui are firmly rooted in her close observation of the quotidian, ‘Leaf holes”and “The Void”alter regular perceptions of one's surroundings, rendering the common and the overlooked into explorations of one's notions of the everyday. Charwei Tsai will present “Lanyu” as she reflects on spirituality and temporality, through a meditation on the seminal Buddhist text Heart Sutra, by delicately inscribing the words onto material surfaces.
Su Yu-Hsien focuses on the on the nonobjective space between the subject and the object. By comparing deviation between his own perception and value with others, his sense of hummer is thus created through his works. Chen Ching-Yuan on the other way is presenting his latest single channel video at the art fair. Furthermore, the opening reception for his solo exhibition at TKG+ Projects will be held on November 9th, 2013. A shuttle bus will be arranged at 5:45pm-6:00pm at Entrance B of the Art Fair venue.
